Anode slimes is a by-product of the electro-refining process and
consists of the insoluble impurities from the anode that fall to
the bottom of the refining cell. The anode slimes are recovered
from the refining cells, dried in an oven and processed by a
metals by-product plant.
/p>
The principle insoluble impurities are Silver (Ag), Arsenic (As),
Gold (Au), Bismuth (Bi), Lead (Pb), Antimony (Sb), Selenium (Se)
and Tellurium (Te).

The Slimes are packed in 210 litre steel drums with plastic
liners, typically containing between 220 kg and 380 kg per drum.
The average drum holds 295 kg's slimes. Drums are sealed
using a butt-welding clamping lid. Shipment is effected from
Nigerian ports.
Delivery is based on a "C.I.F. named overseas ports"
delivery basis, prescribing that the property in the material
shall pass to the Buyer on delivery of the original shipping
documents from the Seller to the Buyer. The Risk shall pass to
the Buyer when the anode slimes pass the ship's rail on
loading at a Nigerian port. In the event of the ship owner
exercising any right under the Bill of Landing to discharge at
any other convenient port or ports of any other country or
countries, such discharge shall constitute good delivery and the
Buyer shall pay any additional freight and charges as may be
incurred to deliver material to the Buyer's works.
